Every complication in secured lending comes from uncertainty about what the collateral is. With a recognized bar there is essentially none: the refiner, the weight and the purity are stamped on it, the assay is standard, and the market price is continuous and public. Verification is confirmation rather than investigation.
What we look at
- The refiner — PAMP, Valcambi, Perth, Credit Suisse, Royal Canadian Mint and similar verify fastest.
- Serial numbers, recorded so the same bars come back.
- Assay cards and original packaging, which help but are not essential.
- Weight verified on arrival against what was described.
- Larger bars carry lower premiums and are marginally simpler to handle.
