Karat Gold, Scrap and Estate Lots

Karat jewelry, dental gold and mixed estate lots are all real collateral. They just take more work to value, because nothing is stamped reliably.

No credit check and no obligation. If borrowing is the wrong instrument for your situation, that is what you will hear first.

Everything has to be tested

A bar states what it is. A jewelry lot does not. Marks are worn, wrong or occasionally fraudulent, karat varies piece to piece, and a great deal of what people believe is gold is plated. So the lot is tested item by item and weighed with stones and non-gold components excluded, and only then is there a number.

What affects the advance

  • Actual karat, verified by acid or XRF rather than read from a mark.
  • Net gold weight with stones, clasps and non-gold parts excluded.
  • Condition is irrelevant — it is valued as metal.
  • Any piece worth more as a piece, which we will flag rather than melt-value.
  • Total net weight against the $23,000 collateral minimum.

How we handle it

  1. 01Describe the lot roughly — you do not need to sort it.
  2. 02Ship insured, or bring it in if you are near Fort Lauderdale.
  3. 03Test and weigh item by item, with the arithmetic shown.
  4. 04Flag anything that should be sold as a piece instead.
  5. 05Advance against net gold content.

Do not clean, polish or sort anything beforehand. Polishing removes weight, and sorting by eye reliably mis-assigns karat. Bring the whole box, including the pieces you assume are worthless.

Said plainly

Where we stop

If a signed designer piece or a branded watch is in the lot, we will tell you it is worth more as a piece than as collateral, and that pledging it against metal content is the wrong use of it.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need to know the karat?
No. Every piece is tested. We do not read the stamp and take its word for it.
What about the stones?
Stones are not gold and are excluded from the weight. They can usually be removed and returned.
Is broken jewelry worth less?
No. Condition is irrelevant when something is valued as metal.
Should I sort it first?
No. Sorting by eye mis-assigns karat, and polishing removes weight.
